Welcome to ZUDANE Great Danes & Photography, Ireland. We are Declan & Michelle Brady, a married couple who have had Great Danes in our lives for almost 25 years now. We both enjoy various hobbies, the two main ones being Dogs & Photography! In the last few years, we have ventured into the world of professional showing.

Our first Dane, a big substantial black boy called Zeus, gave us our love for the breed and our affix, ZUDANE, was created in his honour. Zeus sadly passed at almost 10 years of age just before Christmas 2011, which devastated us. He wasn't a showdog but he was our Champion. Without him, we would have never known the love, loyalty & companionship of this very, very, special gentle giant of a breed.
Run free at Rainbow Bridge Zeus .... till we meet again, my sweet.
Boris was our other old man, a pet Fawn boy, who would have been 12 years old in December 2015. We lost our old man on 17th June '15. Again, he took a huge piece of our hearts with him & devastated us when we lost him. Although not professionally shown, Boris has had huge success in ISA & Companion Shows, Winning many Best In Shows & RBIS around the country (Virginia Show, Royal Meath Show, CSPCA & Fermanagh County Show's Belmore Cup to name but a few). This gave us our hunger to show more professionally. Boris came 3rd in 'The Gain All Ireland Large Breed Championship' on two occasions, last time being aged 7, as a veteran! "His movement was outstanding for a dog of his age" commented the Judge! Boris was a boy who apart from showing, just enjoyed his walks, runs at the lake and lazing round the house, garden, and in front of the fire ...... just as it should be!
Our first IKC showboy Zion, (Fainomenon Take It Easy at Zudane) was quite successful for our first showdog, consistently winning & placed in both the UK & Ireland at Top Championship level. Zion was Crufts Qualified for Life by attaining his UK Stud Book No at 18 months old. Zion also won the Reserve placing in CRUFTS 2012, & 2013 in his Limit Class. In April 2012, he won Best Brindle Dog in Show in the Scottish Great Dane Club Champ Show, beating his UK Champion Dad, Miller (UK CH Roucandane Seeing Stripes). Zion repeated this win for Best Brindle Dog in Show the following year, in 2013, with very strong competition under Breed Specialist Mrs Samantha Dolby. Check out his amazing critique here. Zion suddenly passed away on us from a suspected clot/embolism in the Lungs just two short weeks after we lost Boris on 29th June 2015. With no warning of illness & sudden death, this was exceptionally hard for us to come to terms with, and took us over a year to add to our Dane family again.... We have since learned that unfortunately Zion's entire litter have passed on, all within the same year.
Zach, (Garsak Sir Zachary at Zudane (JUN. CH., CJW '13) was brought in from the UK. Born Dec 2011, Zach made a very successful debut in the ring and earned well in excess of 50 First Placings at Championship level in both Ireland and the UK. Zach was half brother to UK CH Garsak Sir Fernando who won Best of Breed in Crufts 2012. Zach gained his first official title at the 2013 Celtic Winners Show (CJW '13), and also officially become an Irish Junior Champion (Jun Ch). He is a Crufts winner (1st PGD) in 2015, 3rd in 2014 & VHC at over 5 years old in Open Class in 2017! Zach also attained his UK Stud Book No among his achievements. He won many reserve tickets (Green Stars) & CACIBS as well as Crufts wins & consistent high placings. Zach passed away in 2020 at almost 9 yrs of age leaving a huge hole in our hearts and in our home. We would like to sincerely thank Mr Gary Hooker, Mr John Lockey & Ms Margaret Armour for allowing us to have had this lovely huge boy as part of our family from their prestigious Garsak kennels. We would also like to thank them for their ongoing support & advice with our boy, particularly to Gary who showed Zach when in the UK. It is truly appreciated.
Zubin (UK/IRISH/INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION Garsak Sir Bradley Wiggins for Zudane Junior Champion) is again, from the prestigious Garsak Kennels in the UK. Zubin is sired by UK Ch & Swedish import Ch Diplomatics Nicolas Cage Jr for Garsak (Spencer) and Garsak Springbank, (full litter sister to the amazing Ch Garsak Jodie of Jaydania) and is also a nephew of our Zach. Zubin has surpassed all our expectations. Within his first two years of showing he became an Irish Champion, qualified for the Super Leagues in the UK twice, whilst amassing: 4 CACIBS; 14+ Green Stars & numerous reserves; 12 Best of Breeds; his Junior Champion Title; Best Junior in Show in the IGDC Champ Show; 6 CC's in the UK & numerous RCC's, his UK Stud Book Number & lifetime qualification for Crufts. He has attended Crufts twice where he was awarded a 2nd placing in 2017 & a 3rd in Open Dog in 2019 with a huge 17 entries and has since gone on to gain his UK & International Titles. He really is the dog of a lifetime & one with which dreams are made! Thanks again to Gary, John & Margaret for trusting us with this amazing boy.
Our other main hobby is Photography, with both of us having been very active committee members & co-establishing a local Photography Club holding the positions of Secretary & Vice Chairperson for a number of years. We have organised and exhibited in Museums and Libraries both locally and Nationally (as can be seen by TV appearances on our media page). One of our most recent exhibits was part of a National Photography Exhibition in the CHQ Building in Dublin in conjunction with Dublin Port.
We have both individually won overall Photographer of the Year titles at club level, been in national competition finals and the Photography Club final on Virgin Media One's Ireland AM. At Club level, we're happy to have won many competitions against some very stiff opposition, judged by IPPA (Professional) & IPF Distinction holding Photographers. We are lucky to be able to combine both our hobbies together!
We are proud to say, we have both taken Photography in our stride & our endeavors have led us to having been Official Press Photographers at Crufts since 2015. Michelle was also the Official Club Photographer for 'The Irish Great Dane Club' & was personally asked to cover the UK's special Great Dane Festival weekend to name but a few. Our Photography is almost as much a passion as our Dogs!
