CASTLE NO.1: CASTLE SAUNDERSON

This abandoned Castle is nestled on the Cavan Fermanagh Border. The estate originally dates back to the 17th century & remained lived in until 1927 when the family left. They didn't sell the estate for another half a century! In addition to the land, It boasts a private family church on the grounds in which, remains of the family are buried beneath, in its crypt.

The castle & grounds was bought by a businessman in 1977 who undertook restoration work, it then became a hotel before being sold again in the 1990s, after which, fire gutted the house.
